The CubaNOLA Arts Collective in partnership with Snug Harbor Jazz Bistro has the honor to presentJorge Luis Pacheco and his updated yet classical approach to Cuban jazz. He will be joined by Carlos Mena on bass and Keisel Jiménez on drums and percussion.
Jorge Luis Pacheco is fearlessly breaking ground within the Cuban jazz piano tradition. He is a virtuoso pianist, composer, arranger, percussionist and singer, who according to Monty Alexander “defies genre”. He has represented the next generation of Cuban jazz piano at WWOZ’s Piano Night, Jazz at Lincoln Center, the Kennedy Center, the Montreux Jazz Festival, the Afro-Latin Jazz Orchestra, the Apollo Theater and the Havana Jazz Festival,
Jorge Luis combines his classical training with his passion for jazz and playful touches of popular Cuban, Latin American and North American music. It is only fitting that he also sings, since his parents are prominent opera and choir directors. Most recently Jorge Luis directed and performed a collaboration between the Havana Symphony Orchestra and his jazz quartet for a sold-out audience at the Teatro Nacional in Havana.
Don’t miss this rare opportunity to experience first hand the next generation of contemporary Cuban jazz.
The CubaNOLA Arts Collective is a New Orleans community arts organization that uses the power of live music, dance, festivity and diversity to promote cultural wellness and equity. The concert is supported by the CubaNOLA Arts Collective and the Snug Harbor Jazz Bistro.
